Private RSV Vaccine
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a widespread virus that leads to respiratory illness, typically resembling cold symptoms. Although most people recover without issues, RSV can be particularly dangerous for certain groups, such as infants, the elderly, and those with pre-existing health conditions. At our clinic, we provide a private RSV vaccine to safeguard you and your loved ones from the severe impact of this virus.
What is RSV & who is at risk?
RSV is mainly spread through coughing, sneezing, or direct contact with an infected person or contaminated surfaces. For most people, RSV causes mild symptoms, such as:
- A runny nose, sneezing, and nasal congestion
- A persistent cough
- A fever
However, RSV can lead to serious complications in certain vulnerable groups.
For Babies and Young Children:
RSV is a leading cause of bronchiolitis in infants, which causes inflammation in the small airways of the lungs, making it hard for babies to breathe and feed. In severe cases, hospitalization or intensive care may be needed, and the illness can sometimes be fatal.
For Older Adults:
In adults aged 75 and older, RSV often causes more severe illness, increasing the risk of pneumonia, hospitalization, and even death. Every winter in England and Wales, RSV is believed to contribute to 5,000 to 7,500 deaths among older adults, especially those over 75.*

What to Expect During Your Appointment
The RSV vaccine is given as a single injection in the upper arm. To ensure a smooth process, we recommend wearing short or loose sleeves that can be easily rolled up. Our healthcare professional will walk you through the procedure, explain any potential side effects, and address any questions you may have before administering the vaccine.
Possible Side Effects:
As with any vaccine, the RSV vaccine may cause mild side effects, which are usually short-lived and manageable. These can include:
- Redness or swelling at the injection site
- Mild fever
- Headache or fatigue
- Muscle pain
While these side effects may cause temporary discomfort, the protection provided by the vaccine greatly outweighs any risks, especially for those in high-risk groups.
